Wellness

Your pet is your companion. Your confidant. A friend you can always count on. And we know how important it is to you to set them up for a lifetime of happiness and good health by your side. That is why regular preventive exams, vaccinations, and parasite control is so important. With routine health exams, we can establish a baseline for your pet's biological systems and behavior. This way, we can be quick to notice if and when something seems amiss, even if it is subtle. When we catch health problems early on, they usually aren't a big deal. It's only when a health problem persists undetected that it can turn into something more complicated and worrisome. We will also work with you to understand your pet's lifestyle and unique needs, and tailor a vaccination and parasite control plan to make sure they are happy, healthy, and pain free! If your dog or cat has not had a health exam in the last 12 months, or if you are new to the area, please give us a call now to schedule one.

Behavior

Dr. Christine Nickerson is a behaviorist at heart, and one of the best in the region. So many struggles that pets and pet owners face are due to behavioral issues. A lot of times, all it takes are subtle tweaks in the way that you two communicate to open up a much more positive, healthy, and enjoyable relationship. Dr. Christine will take the time to listen to your concerns and goals, learn about your history, and will work to fix whatever the root cause of the issue is. Good behaviorism really can change and transform lives.

Dentistry

If your pet is over the age of three, it is highly likely that they have symptoms of periodontal disease. This is due to the way that plaque hardens on a dog or cat's teeth after eating. And when this hardened substance (tartar) makes its way beneath your pet's gumline, it starts a chain reaction where bacteria grows and erodes structures in the mouth. Pets with periodontal disease experience pain throughout the day, and have higher incidences of organ disease later in life (because the toxins can make its way into the bloodstream). The good news is it is totally treatable! That is why we are so passionate about dentistry. It is an easy way to improve your pet's quality of life, reduce pain, and lengthen their lifespan. We recommend professional cleanings about once a year, at home care (we can teach you!), and regular exams to spot any signs of periodontal disease.

Surgery

Dr. Jordan Nickerson is a talented and accomplished surgeon. He is passionate about making high quality surgical care accessible to this community. He has trained under some of the most talented surgeons in the region, and is capable of performing complicated procedures that are usually referred out to a specialty hospital. So whether your dog or cat needs a routine procedure like a spay or neuter, something more complex like a gastropexy, or anything in between... here, your pet will receive an uncommonly high standard of surgical excellence.

Laser Therapy

Bennington Animal Hospital offers Cold Laser Therapy! Laser therapy uses light to favor and accelerate the body’s natural healing processes. The laser beam is moved over the skin so that the light energy (photons) penetrates the tissue where it interacts with various molecules (chromophores) that cause different biological effects. Laser therapy reduces inflammation, reduces pain, and helps wounds heal faster. Ask your veterinarian about treating your pet that is experiencing: arthritis, tendonitis, wounds, post-surgical swelling, inflamed ears, lick granuloma, hip dysplasia, disc disease, lameness, sinusitis, and other inflammatory conditions!

Euthanasia

The euthanasia decision for a beloved pet may be one of the most difficult choices you will face during your entire lifetime. Here at Bennington Animal Hospital, we understand how difficult this moment is and we will work with you to ensure your pet's comfort and dignity during his or her final moments.
